Health Tips
Most of us know that eating healthy foods helps us in our overall health, but there are other things we also need to know, and to do, in order to live as healthy as possible. Thus, my reason for writing some of these things here. These tips are based on things I’ve studied over the past 30+ years. I’m not an expert on the subject but I have studied the writings of those who are.
Aluminum is known to be one of the causes of Alzheimer’s. It is found in most deodorants. You have to really shop around to find a deodorant without aluminum in it. Many pots and pans are aluminum. Get stainless steel instead. Aluminum foil should not be used for covering food for storage or cooking. For storage, glass bowls are the best.
Fluoride is rat poison. You can find some toothpaste which is fluoride-free. I use Tom’s without fluoride (not all Tom’s tooth paste is fluoride-free. You have to read the label). Fluoride is added to most of our water supplies in the USA. It can be removed from the water you drink and cook with through buying Reverse Osmosis water, which is what I buy. According to some experts, it’s impossible to remove it through a shower filter. A shower filter, however, removes much of the chlorine that’s been added to many water supplies. If you own a house, you might consider a filtration system of your whole house. Both chlorine and fluoride affect the thyroid gland and can lead to hypothyroidism.
In cleaning your home, most store-bought cleaners have chemicals in them which when used are released into the air. There are substitutes that can be used instead, like vinegar and water. For cleaning tile, bath tubs and sinks, you can use a Magic Eraser. That seems to work well and leaves no fumes in the air. In the event that strong, toxic chemicals are needed for cleaning, be sure to have an air purifier on nearby removing as much of them as possible and as quickly as possible, too.
Most of us have heard of the health benefits of eating yogurt. However, many brands are from cows that have been given growth hormones and antibiotics. Nancy’s brand yogurt states that these are not used. It’s the only brand of yogurt I now buy. I no longer drink milk as it seemed to be upsetting my stomach. Many people are lactose intolerant and milk needs to be eliminated from their diets, or minimalized.
For eating some cereals, I use soy milk, almond milk or rice milk. And in choosing which cereal is best, I read the sugar content as well as the other ingredients on the label. Some people are gluten intolerant, so have to be very careful in their choices of cereal as well as bread.
I no longer have any white flour in my home. From what I’ve read and studied, white flour acts like a paste and cakes in the intestines.
Fruits and vegetables are known to be a need for having a healthy diet. Yet, even then, most have been sprayed with chemicals and other toxins. And with the lack of proper rotation of the crops every 7 years, many minerals have been depleted from them. Eating organic only can be difficult if you live in an area that doesn’t have that much to choose from or if your pocketbook can’t afford the extra cost. They generally cost up to or more than twice as much as those that have been sprayed.
Exercise of some sort is needed. Sitting around all day can make us lazy and also cause health issues. I like to walk. For a couple of years, I worked out at a gym but got burned out from going 3 times a week and it became unbearable for me to continue. In addition to now walking several times a week, I also do some arm exercises at home.
Water needs to be replenished into our systems daily. Purified water helps with this. Although I don’t currently measure how many glasses a day I am drinking, I generally keep a bottle of it with me when outside of the house.
Fasting and/or juicing and/or intestinal cleansing should be done occasionally for health purposes. I started doing various cleanses a few years ago, using Jordan Rubin’s Garden of Life products or Dr. Richard Schulze’s intestinal cleansing products. I have studied their material quite extensively and found them to be helpful. Many of Dr. Schulze’s other products have an alcohol base, so I avoid these, being allergic to alcohol.
Sugar is said to multiply cancer cells, if a person has cancer. Refined sugars can cause many health problems. Many are these are found in Nancy Appleton’s writings.
Locally harvested raw honey is said to help those who have allergies from the local pollens in the air.
You can buy zippered allergy pillow covers and bed covers at WalMart for a reasonable price.
It goes almost without saying that dust in the air can cause some people to sneeze. I have recently found that sofas made of fabric have dust mites in them whereas those made of leather or synthetic leather gives them nowhere to stay.
In the days of Jesus, herbs and spices were used as medicine. Most likely, that’s what Dr. Luke used in his practice.
Our immune systems need to be cleansed, healed, and balanced so that if and when disease comes our way, we are well able to make it leave our bodies. Our immune systems are comprised of our intestines, our appendix and our tonsils...maybe more, but I'm writing this from memory from my studies some time ago.
I have read that the best thing to do when sick is to stop eating and let our body heal by itself. We are wonderfully and fearfully made, but we need to stop doing what is making us sick so that we can be well.
